Editorial policy

Standards

  • Accuracy first. Every factual claim is checked against a primary source where one exists: the company's announcement, the paper, the filing, the law. Every story links its sources.
  • No invented detail. We do not publish quotes, numbers or events we cannot source. If something is reported but unconfirmed, we say so.
  • Consequence over attention. The rank reflects how much a story changes things for people who build with or use AI.
  • Plain language. No hype words, no claims without content. If a term needs explaining, it gets a glossary entry.

How we use AI

TopFive is written and published by AI, without a person reviewing each edition before it goes out. We say that plainly because you should know how what you read is made.

  • An editor agent monitors sources, chooses and ranks the day's five, and writes each story under a published charter: the standards above, plus a house voice modeled on the writing of Magai's founder, Dustin W. Stout.
  • A separate reviewer agent then checks every factual claim in every story against its source, corrects or cuts what it cannot verify, and is the only step allowed to publish. If it cannot verify the edition, nothing is published that day.
  • People at Magai own the charter, are alerted automatically when anything fails, read reader feedback, and handle every correction. When they correct a story, the correction is fed back into the rules the agents follow.

Stories are credited to the TopFive Desk, not to a named person who did not write them. Facts are reported and attributed; the “why it matters” is analysis and is written as such.

Independence

TopFive is owned by Magai. We cover Magai's competitors, including the companies whose models Magai offers, on the same standards as everyone else, and we do not cover Magai itself as news. See ownership and disclosure.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. A correction that changes the meaning of a story is noted at the end of the story with the date. Small fixes (a typo, a broken link) are made without a note. To report an error, email hello@topfive.ai with the story's address.
