Anthropic pitches Congress a bill letting a judge halt a model's release over catastrophic risk
TechCrunch reports Anthropic is pitching Congress a draft bill covering a foreseeable, imminent risk of 50+ deaths or $1B in damage from bioweapons, loss of control or cyberattack. Evaluators registered with Commerce would have 72 hours to notify it, and Commerce could ask a D.C. judge to halt release. Politico first reported it Oct. 16; an Anthropic spokesperson confirmed it.
