Anthropic says Claude traced NIST elliptic-curve seeds to a 1990s random number generator
Anthropic's Frontier Red Team says an internal Claude model found, in under half an hour, that the NIST P-192 through P-521 curve seeds came from the C library lrand48 generator seeded with a Unix timestamp, not from hashes. Anthropic says it is not a cryptographic break and makes a backdoor less likely. Some seeds and base points remain unexplained. The $36,864 bounty goes to ISRG.
