Anthropic's leaked federal AI bill draws criticism for weaker oversight than FRONTIER Act

Politico published a leaked discussion draft of a federal AI bill Anthropic has circulated to lawmakers, on Oct. 16. Transformer reports it requires third-party catastrophic-risk evaluations but lets evaluators self-certify, and preempts state laws such as California's SB 53. Anthropic's Anthony Cimino said the preemption language is "not precise enough" and will be revised.
