Google Research: smartwatch sensors flagged high blood pressure better than an office cuff in a 196-person study
Google Research published in Nature a model that uses a smartwatch's pulse and motion sensors to detect signs of hypertension without cuff calibration. In a 196-person, five-site US study it caught 65.8% of cases versus 55.3% for initial office cuff screening. Google calls it early feasibility research, not a diagnosis or product commitment.
