OpenAI launches Grid Protectors Program so its compute campuses can cut power use when the grid is strained
OpenAI announced Nov. 2 a program to coordinate future compute campuses with utilities and regulators so they can reduce demand under grid stress, backed by long-term contracts and financial assurances. The planned Effingham County, Georgia campus is the starting point. Axios puts the reduction at up to 1 gigawatt. TopFive could not open OpenAI's page; details come from Blockchain.News.
