OpenAI says ChatGPT hit 1.2B weekly users and handles about a fifth of Google's query volume

At a New York event, ChatGPT consumer product lead Adam Fry said ChatGPT grew from 1 billion to 1.2 billion weekly active users in about two months, per Big Technology. He said its search-like query volume is roughly one-fifth of Google's, counting any question that triggers a web search; 9to5Google notes Google's volume source was not disclosed. These are OpenAI's own figures, unverified.
