Study finds some languages need 1.5x to 5x more AI tokens than others
Rest of World reports a study by the Coalition for Language Equity in AI Research: among the 20 most common online languages, the costliest needed 1.5 to 5 times the tokens of the cheapest, and across 200 languages one model's gap reached 17 times. Script mattered more than speaker count. The study itself was not reachable.
