Three fired OpenAI researchers ask labs to preserve chain-of-thought monitoring

Tomek Korbak, Mikita Balesni and Jasmine Wang, fired by OpenAI last week, wrote to its board and safety committees urging that chain-of-thought monitoring be preserved, per Gizmodo and the Wall Street Journal. OpenAI told the WSJ the firings were for violating policies on handling sensitive information, not for raising safety concerns.
