West Virginia sues OpenAI over ChatGPT child safety, joining other state suits
West Virginia's attorney general sued OpenAI on Oct. 14, alleging it misleads the public about ChatGPT's safety, lacks age verification and guardrails on self-harm, and has coached users toward suicide or harm. The state seeks to compel compliance with its consumer protection law. Arkansas, Arizona, Idaho and Montana have sued separately; press reports count eight states in all. These are allegations.
