Claude now builds live dashboards from your warehouse

Anthropic put Claude Dashboards into beta for paid plans on Thursday, connected to Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks and Redshift, plus Motion explainer videos for Team and Enterprise. Dashboards is the one to try, because every number opens to the query behind it.

Your Monday report just got a new candidate for automation.

Anthropic announced two beta features for Claude on Thursday: Dashboards, which turns warehouse data into charts that stay current, and Motion, which makes short animated explainer videos from a prompt. It also moved Docs, Slides and Design out of beta on every plan, Free included.

Dashboards shows its work

Dashboards is in beta on paid plans, according to Anthropic. It connects to Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake, plus other connectors such as Salesforce.

The dashboard updates as the data changes. You can click any number to see its query, or ask Claude to explain it. Each chart shows when its data was last refreshed.

Anthropic says a dashboard can be sent on to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma. Looker, monday.com and Tableau are listed as coming soon.

Motion is narrower. It is limited to Team and Enterprise, starts with "/motion" in the message box, and downloads as an MP4. Anthropic says Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images, and that Motion "doesn't use a video generation model." So there is no generated footage and no AI-generated people.

The count Anthropic gave for the tools that just left beta:

More than 45 million docs, decks and designs made in Claude.

The clickable query is the feature

Yes, every chatbot draws charts now. GPT-6 put charts and forms inside ChatGPT answers this week.

The difference is the connection. A chart in a chat answer is built for that answer. A dashboard wired to Snowflake keeps running after the chat ends.

And a number you can click back to its query is a number you can check. That matters more than the animation. An analytics chart that hides its SQL asks you to trust it.

Motion is the clever one. Because it animates with code instead of a video model, every word, number and timing stays editable. That's what a board deck needs.

What you can turn on today

Anthropic lists the conditions in its post:

  • Dashboards is in beta on paid plans.
  • Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise only.
  • On Enterprise, both are off by default. Admins switch them on in Organization settings, under Artifacts.
  • Docs, Slides and Design turn on by default for Enterprise on October 15, or admins can enable them now.
  • PowerPoint and PDF exports keep their formatting, and decks export to Google Slides as editable files.

One deadline if your team used the standalone design site. Anthropic says claude.ai/design stays up until December 14. Admins can migrate team design systems from the Artifacts page, but chats and project comments won't carry over, and public standalone links will stop working.

Anthropic doesn't name a row or query limit for Dashboards. It describes the feature as suited to quick, exploratory questions.

Treat it as an analyst's scratchpad, not your system of record, until Anthropic says more.

Watch the connectors

The test is whether Looker and Tableau arrive, and how soon. That's where many companies' official numbers already live.

Questions people ask

Is Claude Dashboards available on the free plan?

No. Anthropic says Dashboards is in beta on paid Claude plans. Docs, Slides and Design, which left beta on October 8, work on all plans including Free.

Which data sources can Claude Dashboards connect to?

Anthropic lists Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake, plus other connectors such as Salesforce. Every number can be clicked to show its query.

Who can use Claude Motion?

Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans. You start it with /motion in the message box, and it exports MP4 video animated with code rather than a video generation model.
