If you use Conductor, stop reading and export your workspaces. Then come back.

Conductor says it is joining Meta, and its cloud service shuts down this month.

The shutdown has three dates

Conductor posted the timeline on its site.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 4, there are no new sign-ups and new users can't download the app. Free users can't upgrade, and existing Pro users keep Pro features at no cost.

On Friday, Nov. 13, cloud workspaces go read-only. You can read old chats and export data, but you can't send new messages. Active subscribers get a refund, Conductor says.

On Friday, Nov. 20, Conductor Cloud shuts down and deletion of cloud user data begins.

Nov. 20.

The local Mac app keeps working and gets new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027, when it winds down and all Conductor user data is deleted. The team says it plans a new interface and hopes to have something out "early next year."

Terms were not disclosed. Axios first reported the deal, according to SiliconANGLE.

Meta bought the orchestration layer

Conductor lets a developer run several coding agents at once, each in an isolated copy of the codebase, then review and merge the results, SiliconANGLE reports. It works with agents including Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex, which users pay for through their own subscriptions and keys.

The company says more than 100,000 people use it. It was founded in 2024 by CEO Charlie Holtz and CTO Jackson de Campos, and raised a $22 million Series A in March from Spark Capital and Matrix, per SiliconANGLE. Meta engineers were already users before the deal.

Here's the thing. The model was never Conductor's product. The product was the layer that lets one person supervise a multi-agent system of coders without the agents trampling each other's files.

That layer is where agentic coding work actually gets managed, and the labs and platforms want to own it. A tool that sat neutrally between Anthropic's and OpenAI's agents now belongs to a company that builds its own.

What to do before Nov. 20

Conductor gives two ways out.

To keep a cloud workspace and its chats, right-click the workspace and choose "Transfer to local." That moves it to your Mac, where the local app keeps running into 2027.

To take everything, go to Settings, then Account, then Export data.

Conductor says it has never sold or trained on user data and won't start. Take that as the company's word on the past. Export anyway.

Then treat this as a test of your setup. Your agents' work should live in your own repository and your own machine, with the orchestration tool as a thin layer on top. If a vendor going away costs you more than a weekend of setup, you were storing too much with the vendor.

What to watch

Two things. Whether Meta's next coding tool keeps working with Claude Code and Codex, or only with Meta's own models. And whether the local app's "early 2027" end date holds.

Export first. Shop second.

Fake Claude Code extension backdoored Cursor users

Cursor says tampered versions 2.1.312 and 2.1.313 of the Claude Code extension sat in its marketplace for about 11 hours on Oct. 29 and tried to plant an SSH backdoor, reaching at most 5,000 users. Uninstalling may not be enough, so check for the key today.
